RANCINE PROSE: "I KNOW WHY THE CAGED BIRD CANNOT READ"
(GROUP BLOG IN)
The author establishes exigency threw the use of informative because the author informs us that teenagers today don't like read. She also establishes exigency by trying to tell people that teenagers should read more and expand their knowledge. Teacher should also give or assign topics or books that are interesting for the students to read because teenagers a bond to find some book about history, shakespeare , peoples life boring interesting. She believes that teachers should do more to push students to read, by giving them more things to read that's on their grade level and even go as fare as offering time after school for book club so students can be able to read their favorite books. She also blames the school districts for not really helping kids out when it comes to reading. This impacts me because as a child i wasn't born in america there for coming heir at a young age made it very difficult for me to read and understand what i was reading. At that time my teacher weren't that much help to me. From a young I despise reading because I didn't get the help i needed and my teacher didn't understand or take the time out to see that I wasn't reading on grade level. This impacted my live because i really liked books and love stories about drama, gossip and life, but was unable to read them. I then took it upon my self to go to library everyday and read basic books till I could read novels. Last year I had a teacher who cared enough about me to push me to become my best and knew I was capable of doing this I really didn't see my self doing. Not many people had the chances I had to have a teacher like that, but they can if only teacher took the time out to listen and understand where the kids are coming from instead of just expecting them to know everything. Sometimes it takes a teacher that's willing to go as fare as taking time off to get to know her students for them to able to succeeded. Many teenager don't chose not to read, but they refuse to read because the book is either boring or just difficult for them to understand. The first problem the school district and teacher need to worry about is if the student is reading on their right grade level because if they are unable to do so then there is a problem because you can't expect students to read 11th grade text when they are on a 9th grade reading level, it's impossible. So the only way to get teens and college students to read is to give out text or books that's are interesting to them because if you give a teenager a book they don't like I can grantee you they wont read it.
